The exhibition of art has always been an important component of the
programming of the Maliotis Cultural Center, as the essence of Greece
and Hellenism has been expressed through art for millennia. At the Center,
whether we exhibit works by a Greek artist or works in Greek themes by
a non-Greek artist our intent is to capture this essence. The Center is
fortunate that its architecture is particularly conducive to the display
of art. We have large areas with large walls, as well as smaller areas
and intimate spaces. The Center’s active event schedule assures
that its exhibits are viewed by many.
Since we value authenticity, we encourage and seek out artists who live
and work in Greece to exhibit at the Center. At the same time, we have
a responsibility to display the art of our talented artists in the Greek-American
community. We exhibit the work of artists in two basic ways. The first
is by the formal display of the works of an artist or group of artists.
These exhibits are publicized, include opening receptions and remain from
four to six weeks. The second way uses art as décor for the Center
or background for events. These displays, which consist of just a few
pieces, are identified with the artist’s name and can be of any
duration. In both cases, the artists have the opportunity to sell their
work.
Artists who are interested in exhibiting at the Maliotis Center should
contact the Center. A good way of making initial contact is by completing
our Art Submission Form and mailing it to us electronically or by post.
